DJ Drama Announces Gangsta Grillz Mixtape with De La Soul
Renowned DJ Drama is a busy man, currently working on a new album that includes the recently released single “HO4ME” featuring Lil Baby and A Boogie wit Da Hoodie, which can be enjoyed everywhere. However, that's not all Drama has in store for his fans. In a recent interview with the Rap Radar podcast, he dropped a bombshell when he revealed that he has a Gangsta Grillz mixtape with the iconic hip-hop group De La Soul in the works.
Drama explained that he's been able to remain relevant in the industry over the years by staying plugged into the current wave of artists while also paying homage to the legends in the game. He also announced that he has a Gangsta Grillz project with Pusha T, which he initially revealed during a Twitter Spaces session in December 2022.
Interestingly, De La Soul's back catalog recently became available on streaming platforms for the first time, thanks to the group's new relationship with Reservoir and Chrysalis Records. This move comes after a prolonged legal battle with their original label, Tommy Boy Records, which saw Posdnuos, Dave, and Maseo retain control of the rights to their master recordings.

Although De La Soul fans were ecstatic about the recent streaming release, it was bittersweet news for them as Trugoy The Dove, also known as Plug Two, passed away at the age of 54 just weeks before the group's catalog was due to arrive on DSPs. Nonetheless, fans can still look forward to the upcoming Gangsta Grillz mixtape with De La Soul, which is sure to be a memorable collaboration between the iconic group and the celebrated DJ Drama.
