Doechii feat. Kodak Black – “No Scrubs”

Listen to this releases music project “No Scrubs”.

Doechii and Kodak Black team up for the first release of summer 2023, dropping their latest single “What It Is (Block Boy)” with a potential to dominate the airwaves for the months to come. The duo's chemistry and impeccable delivery create a classic 90s R&B-Rap crossover vibe that's hard to resist. The song's smooth blend of TLC's “No Scrubs” and Trimville's “Some Cut” samples further accentuates their dynamic on wax.

Doechii's sugary hook and seductive verses set the tone with infectious lyrics that describe the perfect relationship. Kodak Black provides the male perspective, expressing his own desires from his love interest. Despite the unexpected pairing, Kodak Black's undeniable talent shines through, showcasing that he is much more than just his controversies.

“What It Is (Block Boy)” serves as a testament to Doechii's versatility as an artist. Although she has taken on different styles in the past, this track feels like the one that could solidify her dominance in summer 2023. “This song is a fusion of nostalgia and pop vibes,” said Doechii. “I'm excited to show off a different side of my vocal range that my fans haven't seen before. I love incorporating playful energy by using samples from ‘No Scrubs' and ‘Some Cut.'”

With the success of “What It Is (Block Boy),” we can only hope that it's a lead single to a follow-up project to her previous album, she / her / black b*tch, which featured hits like “Persuasive” with SZA and “Swamp B**ches” with Rico Nasty. While no major announcements have been made regarding a new album, if the single performs as expected, we may not be too far away from a release date.
