Lil Pump, the controversial rapper known for his viral hit “Gucci Gang,” has promised to make a strong comeback in recent months. Despite his social media antics becoming monotonous, his appearance at a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump, where he was referred to as “Lil Pimp,” gave him a moment in the spotlight. Now, after a whole makeover, including losing weight and getting new teeth, Lil Pump is gearing up to return to the rap game.
The sequel to his self-titled debut is expected to drop later this week, and it's a make-or-break moment for the rapper. Lil Pump is exploring beyond the distorted bass of Soundcloud rap for a more melodic effort, and his latest single, “I Don't Mind,” featuring NBA Youngboy, is a surprising departure from his previous work. The track showcases a more vulnerable side of Lil Pump, as he shares his experiences of heartbreak and desire to be left alone.
NBA Youngboy's muffled hums and passionate croons complement Lil Pump's new sound perfectly, and he will be among the collaborators on Lil Pump 2, which also includes Ty Dolla $ign, Rio Da Yung OG, Smokepurpp, and G4 Boyz. It remains to be seen if the entire album will consist of a similar sound to “I Don't Mind,” but it's clear that Lil Pump is experimenting with new styles and pushing his boundaries as an artist.
