SZA appears to be very close to releasing her new album.
She is currently promoting her new single “Shirt,” which gained massive traction on TikTok thanks to a snippet posted there months ago. While excited for the full song, fans are also anticipating the follow-up to her smash hit album ctrl from 2017. When she released a teaser called “PSA” last week, we were excited.
SZA confirms that the album’s name is S.O.S. and that it will be released in December in a new interview with Billboard. Hopefully, as she is making every effort to turn it in on time.
She also discussed how stressful she feels about rollouts and marketing around albums, adding on the fact that she just likes to create music and have fun. “I hate the red tape analytics of dropping anything — it’s so stressful,” she says. “I definitely have heard [the term ‘digital service provider’] more this week and last week than I have ever. I don’t like the way it sounds — it sounds stressful and like something that requires a lot of attention and maneuvering. I hate the word ‘single.’ It’s like, ‘What the f–k separates a single from other sh-t on my album that I like? Why does it have to be different?’ ”

She also stated in the interview that she is unsure of her motivation in pursuing fame at this time. She admits, “I feel that music, in this capacity, I don’t see longevity. “I enjoy making things, writing, singing, and sharing them. However, I’m not sure whether pursuing superstardom or whatever else I should be doing at the moment is sustainable for either me or anybody else. I’m going to give it my all and take a good swing at it.
